Sister Girl

We know Jezebel (Isabel) was the original sister girl. Remember she sent word to Yliyah saying ‘so let the gods do to me and more also if I do not make your life as the life of one of them by tomorrow about this time. Jezebel threatened a man of Yah! 1 Kings 19:2. But there was another ‘quiet Jezebel’ whose name was Michal, the Jezebel spirit overcame her.

I first came across the story of Michal when I was researching the bible to see if there were any women that did not have children. Children are a blessing from Yah.  I came across 2 Shemuyah 6:23, therefore Michal the daughter of Shaul had no children to the day of her death. If you go up you see what she did. 2 Shemuyah 6:16, Now as the ark of Yah came into the City of David, Michal, Shaul’s daughter looked through a window and saw King David leaping and whirling (dancing) before Yah and she despised him. Then she got in David’s face. 2 Shemuyah 6:20 Then David returned to bless his household and Michal the daughter of Shaul came out to meet David and said ‘how glorius was the king of Ysrayl today uncovering himself today in the eyes of the maids of his servants as one of the base fellows shamelessly uncovers himself@!’ Then David replied to her in 2 Shemuyah 6:21-22 It was before Yah who chose ME instead of your father and all his house to appoint me ruler over the people of Yah, over Ysrayl. Therefore I will play music before Yah. And I will be even more undignified than this and will be humble in my own sight. But as for the maidservants of whom you have spoken by them I will be held in honor.

After I read this story, I thought maybe she never loved David, her husband. But that was not correct. She loved David in the beginning I read. 1 Shemuyah 18:20, Now Michal, Shaul’s daughter loved David and they told Shaul and the thing pleased him.  She even helped to save David’s life in 1 Shemuyah 19:12-18. She helped him to escape out of her window and she put goat’s hair in the bed to look as though David was sleeping when Shaul’s men came to kill him.

I wondered what happened? Why did she fall out of love with him? Did Shaul bad-mouth David in her presence? She even married another man. 1 Shemuyah 25:44, But Shaul had given Michal his daughter, David’s wife to Paltiyah the son of Laish who was from Gallim.  But David does not let her out of the covenant. 2 Shemuyah 3:13-16 And David said ‘good I will make a covenant with you (Abner) but one thing I require of you. You shall not see my face unless you first bring Michal, Shaul’s daughter when you come to see my face. So David sent messengers to Ishbosheth, Shaul’s son saying ‘give me my wife Michal, whom I betrothed to myself for a hundered foreskins of the Philistines. And Ishbosheth sent and took her from her husband, from Paltiyah the son of Laish. Then her husband went along with her to Bahurim weeping behind her. So Abner said to him, ‘go, return ( leave)! And he left.

I wondered if she had no children because she got sister-girl in David’s face and Yah did not like that or if she just didn’t want to lay with David because she despised him? Maybe all of the above.

2 Shemuyah 21:8 says Michal had 5 sons but this is a mistranslation. Shaul’s other daughter Merab had 5 sons.

In the Garden

This is a picture of my two lettuce planters. Yesterday I had a big salad, that is why the first planter looks destroyed, hee-hee. It seems like every time I pluck some lettuce more grows back in its place! I have even been putting the lettuce on my nephew’s sandwiches.

This is a picture of my beets.

The other pot of beets here.

Green onions here. There’s nothing like tasty home grown vegtables.

Narrative of the Life of Henry Box Brown

This book was written by Henry Brown and edited by John Ernest. I read this book a few weeks ago. When I was in high school, I remember reading about Henry Box Brown mailing himself from Richmond Virginia to Philadelphia Pennsylvania.  I remember there were always only a few short sentences in the history book. They told the measurements of the box being 3x2x2 but they never explained deeper about why he did it. Henry was owned by one master and his wife and children were owned by another master. His wife’s master’s wife did not like her because she was to ‘refined’ (jealous) for a slave. She reminded me of Patsy’s master’s wife in 12 years a slave. Anyway, her master became ill so they called for Henry to come pray over him before he died but he did not die. The master’s wife began to taunt him about that so he wanted to retaliate against Henry but he could not because Henry did not belong to him and Henry’s master forbade anyone from damaging his property. Henry was considered to be especially intelligent. So Henry’s wife’s master sold her and the children. Henry was very mad and heart-broken because of this and he never saw them again. Henry almost died in that box because he was turned upside down for more than a few minutes. Because of the Fugitive Slave Act, Henry left America for England with his new wife for fear they would put him back into slavery. He became a lecturer. He returns to America about 5 years after the Civil War.

Last year I did a post about aloe vera. Back in the 80s it was the base of Jerry Curl spray which we playfully called the juice or the soul glo juice. Back in the 60s they (James Brown and Bobby Byrd) use sing about ‘soul power’ and ‘I know you got soul’. It partially comes from David and Yahanathan being friends, soul brothers in the bible. But there was more to the soul power movement.  I once saw this PBS special on the civil rights era. I saw this elder saying part of the reason they sang songs like ‘I know you got soul’ is because the Gentiles use to say that we have no souls. I was going to post about it last year but then I did not. So now, I have read it this time in a book. Henry Box Brown said the same thing as this elder that I saw on PBS, that Gentiles use to say we had no souls and that we are not accepted into heaven on pages 68-69. Of course we know that we don’t go to heaven when we die, our breath goes back to Yah and Yahoshua is the only man in heaven sitting on the right of Father Yah. But it seems it was meant to mean that we are unloved by Yah and that we are like animals. Like, don’t nobody want you. (sounds like something a jealous lover would say doesn’t it? Yah said from the beginning our lovers/the nations would reject us). We know more now, we know Yah says we have never been replaced by any other people and we are inscribed upon His hands.

*I’m not saying all the Gentiles felt we are unloved by Yah so don’t be offended. We know that in all our movements that there has always been believing Gentiles. Henry escaped with the help of two Gentile men.

The Troubled Waters

Remember we have read about Yah troubling the waters in these scriptures: Exodus 14, Joshua 4:18, Joshua 5:1, 2 Kings 2:8, 2 Kings 2:14, Psalm 106:9, Psalm 107:33, Psalm 114:3, 2 Esdras 13:13-50 and two scripts of a future event in Yesiyah 11:11-16 and Revelation 12:16.

During Shabbat Class Yesiyah 41:1 was pointed out as Yah troubling the waters along the coastline. Yah commanded the water to be silent.

On Friday night I was thinking about Yah troubling the waters scriptures and I soon found myself in Mattithyah 14:24 where Yah was troubling the waters. But Yahoshua does not part the sea and walk over to the boat. He does something greater than the prophets. He walks on the sea over to the boat in v. 25!! To do this took great faith and He was trying to show Kepha and the others this but Kepha was not able to have this faith at this time. By verse 32 Yah stopped the wind (and water) from being troubled. In verse 36, They bowed down to Yahoshua and they knew He was the Son of Yah. HalleluYah.

*3-1-2014, I read this scripture last night: Thus says Yah, who makes a way in the sea and a path through the mighty waters. Yesiyah 43:16.

*3-8-2014, What ails you O sea that you fled? O Jordan that you turned back? Psalm 114:5.

*3-22-2014 The waters saw You, O Yah. The waters saw You and they were afraid. The depths trembled…Your way was in the sea. Your path in the great waters and your footsteps were not known. You led your people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron. Psalm 77:16,19-20.

Praise Yah

But Yah said to me, do not say I am a youth for you shall go to all to whom I send you and whatever I command you, you shall speak. Do not be afraid of their faces for I am with you to deliver you says Yah. Then Yah put forth His hand and touched my mouth and the Almighty said to me: Behold, I have put My words in your mouth.  Yeremiyah 1:7-9. HalleluYah.
