Our Names Before Slavery

This past Shabbat, the Israelites were talking about this website slaves.faces  if it doesn’t come up go to slavevoyages.org then click African name database, next type the name Yah in the African name box on the left.  After you type in the name Yah, 720 slave names should appear! Our ancestors knew they were Hebrews but were forced to stop using their Hebrew names. Some of the slave names with Yah were changed just like in the Scriptures, Yeremiyah was changed to Jeremiah. If you put ‘ia’ in the name box, 917 names appear and if you put in ‘iah’ 158 names will appear.  Europeans  misspelled many of the names. On the list I saw the name Bia. It was most likely BeYah or BYah. HalleluYah for the truth! Yah is giving us back our history!
