When I was a girl about 10 years old, I had to mow the grass then rake up the grass and put it in a garbage bag.
My sister also had to mow the grass a few years later. She is younger than I. We had to take out the trash too. These are typically boy jobs around the house. As a matter of fact, we did all the chores inside and outside the house.
Our father had to go out to sea and we haven’t any brothers. So we had to do these things and protect ourselves.
We know that David was a shepherd boy, 1 Shemuyah 16:11 but there were shepherd girls too in the bible. Rachel was a shepherd girl, Genesis 29:8-10. She tended the flock until the day Jacob came. Jacob took over the flock. He raised the flock and made the household wealthy.
There was a priest of Midian named Jethro who had 7 daughters and all his daughters were shepherds of the sheep. They kept the sheep until the day Moses came to them and he took over the flock for them. Moses married one of Jethro’s daughters. Her name was Zipporah, Exodus 2:16-17,22 and the book of Jasher.
